Student Affirmations

Peaceful helpers became a group a year ago. They were 5th grade students who wanted to be peer mediators (only 8 were chosen and really needed). Peaceful helpers have a wide variety of activities and mostly they come up with the ideas. One student saw that positive messages were placed on lockers. We're an elementary school-- we don't have lockers, but we have desks or cubbies. So, we wrote notes for 560 students and about 60 adults last year. Some 5th graders taped their note over and over and lasted the whole year. We've started again this year. Here's what it looks like--pretty simple but with lots of impact.
