Compassionate Schools Seattle 2014

Post Presentation Conversation between Christy Anana and Ron Hertel

I had the privilege of co-presenting Compassionate Schools at an event through Compassionate Seattle at Cleveland High School, August 12, 2014. The event began in the auditorium with some passionate speakers including Scarlet Lewis--whose 6 year old son died in his classroom in Sandy Hook Elementary. She represented resiliency for her and her surviving sons using the words Nurturing, Healing, and Love--words written on a home chalkboard by Jesse. A superintendent also spoke about using his childhood experience of witnessing untouchables in his culture in India to guide his Compassionate approaches with all students. I've included pictures of me with the Washington State guru of Compassionate Schools, Ron Hertel--author of  Heart of Learning. I spoke after the presentation from Dr. Mary Wilson--principal of the first Compassionate School. The conference was amazing, and I was reignited to follow Compassionate strategies. It was affirming to have other educators interested in my unique way of  implementing Compassionate programs.
